You can use them effectively in the gym or easily at home.
The beauty of using dumbbells is that they are so easy to store.
They are also very effective in building upper body strength to help you secure headlock submissions with stronger shoulders and biceps.
The biceps secure the head lock, as you fall upon your opponent’s head, the shoulders provide the leverage and compression that you need to keep them close and underneath.
The dumbbell, a type of free weight, is a piece of equipment used in weight training. It can be used individually or in pairs, with one in each hand.
This great piece of iron has a long, deep history.
The forerunner of the dumbbell, halteres, were used in ancient Greece as lifting weights and also as weights in the ancient Greek version of the long jump.
Good to know.
There are very broad uses for the dumbbell, so here, we want to focus on effective techniques with the idea you will use your workouts to build upper body strength.
We’ll take you through three phases.

Alright. Well stated.
As we make our final transition into listening to the ideas of a visiting writer, remember, dumbbells can help beautify and strengthen many parts of your body.
Depending upon the day, focus on what body part you desire.
Here, we are all about female grappling.
While you are beautifying your body, always remember to simultaneously use those dumbbells to strengthen your arms and shoulders, a dual combination that will help you gain submissions through headlocks.
First, use your stronger arms to grasp her neck and shoulder area.
Second, take her down and fall upon her body so that you are on top.
Third, use your stronger shoulders to carefully fall upon her head and stay there so your body weight creates the compression you need to submit her.
More ideas on using those dumbbells.
Very important, whenever you are engaging in a new exercise or sport for the first time, please consult with your physician first.
Time for our visiting writer.
Dumbbells and Bicep Workouts
Some of the top bicep workouts at home can be performed with dumbbells. There are many things to take into account when choosing dumbbells for your workout routines at home. One has to look at space, convenience, durability and affordability. In this article we'll be comparing fixed-weight dumbbells v adjustable dumbbells.
These are the two types of dumbbells available on the market today:
- Fixed-weight dumbbells: The most common and often seen in an exercise centre. These dumbbells are made of iron or steel, and some are covered in vinyl or neoprene to make them easier to grip and less noisy. Great for bicep workouts in the gymnasium, but can be rather awkward when used at home. As their name suggests, you can't add or subtract pounds from fixed-weight dumbbells, so you will need to acquire multiple pairs to keep yourself challenged as your biceps fitness improves. However, these weights are incredibly tough and many come with a lifetime warranty, so you'll never need to purchase a replacement. Fixed-weight dumbbells come in a range of weights, ranging from 2 to 125 pounds.
- Adjustable dumbbells: You can add or take away weights, so they use less room and can grow with you. Most adjustable dumbbells come with a range of weight plates that are screwed or snapped onto the main bar. You can make the dumbbell heavier or lighter by adding or removing weight plates. Selectorized dumbbells, which are also regularly referred to as adjustable dumbbells, allow you to adjust weights even more quickly. These dumbbells function much like weight machines you may have used in the gymnasium, where you slide a pin or turn a dial to choose your desired weight; when you lift up the dumbbells, the desired weight remains on the bar, while the surplus weight remains on the stand or floor. These dumbbells, while sometimes costly, can be more affordable than buying a full set of fixed-weight dumbbells. They're compact, convenient and brilliant for bicep workouts at home. They typically have warranties of only a few years, much shorter than fixed-weight dumbbells.
For bicep workouts at home we recommend the adjustable dumbbells, which enable weights to be attached or taken away as required, over fixed-weight dumbbells. As you become stronger, you will need progressively heavier weights to reap the same benefits, which may require a number of individual dumbbell pairs. Instead of having 10 individual dumbbell pairs in varying weights, an adjustable set can grow with you as you gain fitness. As mentioned before, they're compact, convenient and brilliant for bicep exercises at home. On the downside, adjustable sets aren't as durable as fixed-weight dumbbells.
Not all dumbbells are created equally, though. Particularly when it comes to adjustable dumbbells. Unfortunately, decent reviews of dumbbells are limited. Some fitness publications, including Women's Health and Men's Fitness magazines, have short discussions of dumbbells that include a few suggestions, but they aren't based on in-depth evaluation.
At Top Bicep Workouts we endeavor to do just that. Reviewing a number of adjustable dumbbells obtainable on the market over the past few years, we aspire to finally be able to give you with an accurate review on dumbbells available in the marketplace today that you've been longing for.
