You only get one chance to make a good first impression.
You make the most of your chance when you make a “great” first impression.
The first time we saw the formidable female submission wrestler Kara, she was beyond impressive.
It was at a palatial Dojo in the Oakland - Berkeley, San Francisco East Bay Area, in front of a live audience during an FCI event.
Now, we had heard about her. How could we not. Previously, elsewhere, she had soundly defeated super star Isamar, which is never an easy feat. So, we knew what she could do.
She was a beautiful dark haired girl loaded with gorgeous feminine muscle. Her sacrifices at the gym had clearly paid off. Our camera person described her as breathtaking.
Up close and personal.
Kara also had a unique maturity to her, blessed with a gregarious personality.
Her opponent, Bryn Blayne was a known quantity. She had a reputation for being very solid. She dominates the newer girls like Evadne and Eden very easily. She was soundly defeated by Isamar, so that told us something.
Most likely Kara’s match to win but, since we’ve never seen her before, we will let her wrestling do the talking.
KARA VS BRYN

FCI had the two gorgeous girls stand against the wall while we interviewed them. Kara was from Oakland and Bryn hailed from San Jose.
The two went down to their knees, shook hands and the match began.
Bryn was the aggressor and semi-encased Kara in a floor to sitting body scissor, which Kara easily slide into a reverse, tight scissor on Bryn. Kara’s head was near Bryn’s feet as she squeezed mightily, demonstrating the power of her gorgeous muscular thighs.
Bryn grimaced with pain.
The San Jose warrior escaped but Kara was instantly on top of her with a reverse school girl sit, which could easily slide backwards into a face sit.
Bryn continues to scramble around underneath. Kara is sliding with her, abandons the sitting position and glides towards a cross body pin. The Oakland native tightly squeezes Bryn’s right arm between her powerful thighs while crunching Bryn’s skull with a fierce headlock. Bent like a pretzel and in pain, Bryn taps out.
1-0 for Kara (2:47).
They begin again.
Bryn is the aggressor as she approaches Kara. They briefly hand fight and Bryn immediately leaps, encases Kara’s waist and applies the often ill-fated floor to sitting body scissors move. It is often a move applied by girls who feel they have limited options in an upper hand to hand, shoulder, out muscle you proposition.
Kara uses her thick strong legs to stand, moves forward and is on the verge of cracking Bryn with a back breaker. Bryn tries to counter with an attempted arm bar, but thus far, attempted is all that she is accomplishing.
Strong muscular Kara keeps moving forward, applying fierce pressure.
It works.
Kara breaks the hold then, once again falls across Bryn’s chest area, which gives her many choices and options. She encases Bryn’s right arm inside of her strong thighs, pushing a cross body pin.
Bryn circles but the larger Kara circles with her, stretches herself out, adding pressure to Bryn’s pain and the San Jose starlit taps out.
2-0 for Kara (2:44).
They re-engage.
Bryn applies the floor to sitting body scissor, and in retrospect, it may be one of the few options she may think she has, trying to control the much stronger Kara.
It’s not going to work though.
She moderately controls Kara from the bottom but it is like trying to grasp a splashing water hose, gyrating around from all of the water pouring. Catch it if you can.
Though still in the scissor, Kara is moving Bryn around at will, until she gets her opening to break.
Once she does, she immediately traps Bryn underneath in a cross body pin. It is just a matter of time before she clasps Bryn’s right arm between her strong thighs, tighten the grip and submit Bryn.
3-0 for Kara (4:42).
Bryn takes a little walk to recalibrate.
As she comes back to engage, this time it is Kara all the way. Bryn lunges for a hold but misses and gives up her back. Like taking candy from a baby, Kara circles the beautiful brunette and closes from behind. Bryn is trapped. Kara forcefully applies the rear naked choke and Bryn painfully taps out.
4-0 for Kara (5:16).
Bryn is starting to get a little winded. She looks at one of the other female wrestlers and asks what time is it?
It’s getting late early.
There is plenty of time left. Hair a little disheveled, Bryn is breathing heavily.
Kara on the other hand looks fresh as a daisy and is completely focused with intensity on Bryn. Just because she is far ahead, she is not going to lose focus. Not going to let off of the gas.
The strong gorgeous model quietly and intensely stares into Bryn’s eyes.
They start the fight.
Kara immediately traps Bryn in the cross body pin and is closing in for the kill by once again lodging Bryn’s right arm between her legs. This time Bryn miraculously escapes and the two athletic women scramble around for control, and to our surprise, Kara has given up her back to Bryn.
Lets’ see what she does with it.
Kara easily bounces out of it. Lara pushes Bryn backwards, twice, for good measure. She is the toughest bully on the block and is letting Bryn know it. What is her not so subtle message?
Try and stop me.
Bryn slides backwards on the mats to get away from the fire. She takes a brief breather. Kara is relentless in coming after her. Bryn tries the floor to sitting body scissor thing and that approach is quickly swatted aside by Kara.
The gorgeous muscle girl flattens Bryn out in another cross body pin. Bryn circles around underneath to escape and Kara easily mirrors her. Once Bryn is finished with the futility, Kara encased her arm between her strong thighs, applies a fierce wrist lock for good measure and it’s the bye, bye, blues. Bryn concedes.
5-0 for Kara (7:40).
Kara needs a water break.
Bryn needs a long break.
After Kara comes back, we are amazed at her focus. This star in the making is undistracted.
Kara and Bryn briefly compliment one another. This is why we like matches at events. While we wouldn’t say, here the stakes are high, it is public. In front of others and coming in to this one, we would say Bryn was expected to do better than she was doing.
Bryn is finally ready. She looks at the camera person and says it’s time to kick some butt.
We guess. We’ll see.
Time to engage.
They begin with hand fighting. Kara slightly pushes Bryn backwards. Then she pulls her down and is immediately on top of her.
Starting to look like more of the same.
Kara does another cross body while Bryn traps her arm. No matter, It is not just hat Kara is stronger than Bryn, she is also out maneuvering her and beating her to the punch.
Kara is a very clever fighter.
She traps Bryn in a headlock choke and the elegant San Jose brunette taps out.
Kara leads 6-0.
There is not much Bryn can do.
When they engage again, she tries an upper neck leap, but misses, and Kara easily pulls her down into a Guillotine Choke and Bryn gives.
7-0 for Kara.
As they fight again, Bryn is fending her off but it is not easy. Kara is strong enough to push her backwards, then pull her down forward.
This time she pulls her down forward.
They tumble around. Bryn tries for a headlock but it is tenuous. She is performing it from the bottom.
Completely in control, Kara rolls Bryn into a side body scissor and choke. Bryn screams in anguish, then taps out.
8-0 for Kara.
It is warm inside and Bryn needs another break.
Kara lays stretched out and is a beautiful specimen.
We all relax for a minute more, exchanging light banter. At this stage, despite their high talent and skill level, both Kara and Bryn are actually fairly new to this.
Once they start again, Kara immediately takes control from the top and potentially has Bryn in a grapevine but Bryn kicks out of it. Still, Kara maintains the top position as Bryn struggles underneath.
Kara soon traps her in a painful wrist lock and Bryn taps out.
9-0 for Kara.
With ten seconds left, FCI calls the match.
Walking down memory lane makes it clear how the present is so precious.
Never to be repeated.
Bryn was a known and deeply appreciated athlete.
Kara was new to us.
That was back in 2012.
We were greatly impressed.
The first time.
What we didn’t realize at the time?
Unconnected to this match, sadly Bryn would soon retire from the wrestling scene.
In Kara, we were watching one of the greatest female submission wrestlers who would ever compete in our industry. We would later work with Kara at a female submission wrestling event in Las Vegas. Even helped her secure a nice session from a gentleman from Pittsburg.
