October 19, 2023,
Excitement reigns before a fully competitive live women’s wrestling event. So it is with great anticipation that we focus on The Submission Room’s October 21, 2023 event.
Who is going to win, how will they win and what could be the best matchups?
To understand the future, it is often important to look back into the past.
Here we are going to provide you with five actual match reviews from some of the stars previous matches which will give you some insight on their skill level and tactics.
VIKTORIA
Do we need to rub our eyes again?
About what we just witnessed.
But find it hard to believe.
Upstart and formidable Andy vs DWW and HWW legend Viktoria.
Andy completely dominated Viktoria, in the Hungary 4K series but Viktoria looked very ill and listless. Literally. So, it was impossible to review that match. Not to take anything away from Andy but something seemed really off about Viktoria, who wrestled defenseless.
So, to make sure our eyes were not playing tricks on us, we reviewed another match between Andy vs Viktoria, where Viktoria appears to be functioning well.
The Battle Ring 2.0 series.
Now, we say that with a grain of salt. Over the years we have seen Viktoria go at half speed, somewhat full speed, scripted speed, fantasy speed and fully competitive speed. We know that, since her DWW days, Viktoria is an exceptional wrestler.
When she wants to be.
More than any female submission wrestler we have ever reviewed, Viktoria’s wrestling is like a box of chocolates.
Sweet as it may taste, half the time you don’t know what the heck you’re going to get.
So, when we turned on the video, Viktoria appears to be herself. No, not the one that gave a match away to Axa Jay, years ago at TC Wrestling. The one that has the ability to defeat most of the female submission wrestlers, new or experienced, on the competitive landscape.
Okay, let’s see how Andy does here.
It is time for a correction.
It is time for a reality check.
Match review excerpt from September 26, 2023,
ANDY VS VIKTORIA – BATTLE RING 2.0
Time to begin.
They both begin on their knees.
Andy is the aggressor and leaps for Viktoria’s head and neck area, taking her backwards. Viktoria goes with the flow, rolls backwards then rolls on top of Andy. They briefly struggle and both separate from the hold.
They engage again and both head hunt.
Viktoria, as she often does, attains success and takes Andy down to the mats and most important, falls on top of her. The DWW legend keeps Andy locked in the headlock. As she circles, Andy circles with her, grabbing Vitoria’s wrist to prevent a full lock. What the beautiful young Czech girl is forgetting is to leg lock Viktoria, at least one of her legs, to prevent a full mount.
Viktoria twirls and flattens herself out on Andy in a mount with the potential for a smother. She then sits up, moves forward, in a potential pinning position. Andy is determined but in a position of extreme weakness. It will be hard to go for a straight pin on Andy, as she is very strong and will continue to try and kick out of it.
Viktoria is not an aggressive and violent wrestler. Never has been. Like Judo, she will go with your flow. Here she uses Andy’s aggression to simply role to her side, with the flow, and slide Andy into a powerful side body scissor and progressively squeezes. Andy groans in pain and taps out.
Now, that is the Viktoria we are used to seeing.
1-0 for the DWW legend (2:45).
XENA
Match review excerpt from July 24, 2023,
Typically, in a match like this, all eyes, and in all fairness, all scrutiny and criticism, is on Hungary’s wunderkind Kim.
We have done more match reviews on Kim than most other female submission wrestlers in the entire world.
She can be a fascination.
Always.
Not only because of her wrestling but also for her quiet “hard to read” personality.
She virtually never gets angry. Even when she should (hint: Julie Silvie).
She’s rarely passionate. Very hard working but also very workman like. Toiling her trade.
Just the facts Jack.
Mostly, that approach works well, unless you are trying to become one of the elite wrestlers in the world.
Then you need passion.
Sometimes even a little bit of controlled anger.
We say that because Kim is facing a newer beauty in Belgium’s gorgeous and internally tough, Xena.
In her inaugural match against Czech Republic’s Ginger, Xena completely frustrated and demolished her.
Does she stand a chance with the extensively experienced Kim?
We say yes.
Xena has far less experience.
Xena is on Kim’s home turf.
Is there is a but coming? Of course there is.
Xena has far more intensity and passion.
And today’s rules are bunky funky.
Headlocks and pin count to ten, only.
Now that is bunky funky.
Even in the old DWW days, though they were not skilled in MMA, they could at least use body scissors and painful chin locks.
Smothers too.
So, the rules work to Xena’s favor and we sense allowances for the differences in experience played a part in that.
Based upon that, we are picking Xena to win.
KIM VS XENA
As Kim and Xena stand there listening to Antscha, with their hands on their hips, their fearless leader makes it clear there are only headlocks and body pins to a ten count. Then Antscha asks if they understand the rules.
Hey, there are only two rules, so both Kim and Xena should pass this pop quiz.
The beauties go down to their knees.
Time to wrestle.
They begin with hand fighting, trying to achieve the stronger upper neck position. They struggle. Finally Xena breaks through as she reaches behind Kim’s neck and brings her down to the mats. Xena is on top of the Hungarian brunette, locking Kim’s head and neck inside of a Triangle Headlock. Antscha reminds the Belgian rising star, no chokes or smothers.
Understood.
Kim asserts herself and rolls Xena over, and though still trapped in the Triangle Headlock, at least she is now on top.
They struggle. Xena tries to lock in Kim’s right leg, to prevent a full mount. Kim soon breaks the hold completely. They tangle as Kim tries to jockey for position. They roll around as Kim is slowly in control and then she is not. She manages to press Xena up against the wall for an advantage.
More struggle.
From the floor, Kim is now trying to control Xena with a scissor as Xena tangles up Kim’s wrist. Thus far, with the limitation of the rules, this is a stalemate.
And the stalemate continues.
There is a continual arm control fight as Kim keeps her legs tightly scissored around Xena’s wait. While she will not be submitted with that hold, it clearly seems to be tiring the Belgium Princess out. Her heavy exhaustive breathing is an indicator of that.
With the limitations of the rules, the two girls are fighting fiercely to reach an end game that will be hard to attain.
Xena finally appears to make some headway.
She clasps her hands behind Kim’s neck, who is struggling on her back, and fiercely pulls Kim’s head upward. The Hungarian star is in anguish and her leg scissor hold around Xena’s waist is broken. The Belgium starlit is pressuring Kim from the top and Antscha warns, “No smother”.
No problem.
Xena slides it into a side headlock and continues to crunch and apply the pressure to Kim’s head. Xena is relentless. Because she is attacking from the side, and not directly from above, to avoid the smother, she is now forcing the pin issue and Antscha begins the pin count. It gets to eight before Kim kicks out.
Xena is not through.
She begins to apply the pressure again. Kim is covered and trying to kick out. Antscha begins the pin count again and the second time is a charm. Kim is counted out at ten. Finally.
1-0 for Xena (6:30).
KAOS
Match review excerpt from February 25, 2023,
There will be no distractions today.
No audience cheering.
No bantering with the crowd.
Kaos and Emily will be battling it out in a private setting.
Typically with other companies we are concerned that the wrestling will not be as intense as when it is in front of a live audience but in this venue we are comfortable it will be quietly competitive.
Emily’s strength is that she is a body builder and, though newer to wrestling, has some matches under her belt.
Kaos is fairly new to the fully competitive female submission wrestling world but she is a skilled MMA fighter and with that resume alone, we expect her to win today.
KAOS VS EMILY
The two women introduce themselves and begin the match standing.
After initial upper arm and neck fighting, Kaos bear hugs Emily and slowly takes her down to the mats, lying on top of her. Emily quickly scissors Kaos right leg to prevent a full mount.
It didn’t work.
Kaos strengthens her hold and Emily taps out for an early submission at 58 seconds.
1-0 for Kaos.
They next begin on their knees.
Emily uses her muscles to bear hug Kaos, pushing the stealth MMA warrior backwards. She is now on top of Kaos but the question with a newer wrestler is, what will she do with it?
Not much.
Kaos rolls her off.
Now Kaos is on top.
They roll around and struggle.
Emily gives up her back and Kaos applies one arm around her neck, is MMA trained, yet curiously does not go for the rear naked choke. Instead she rolls backward taking Emily with her.
Emily is in trouble.
They struggle some more but Kaos is in the position of strength with Emily making the mistake of giving up her back. Now Kaos decides to apply the rear naked choke. Emily grimaces and taps out.
2-0 for Kaos (2:10).
VENOM
Match review excerpt from February 16, 2023,
It is always thought provoking and intriguing when the legendary past collides with the upgraded present.
In terms of the fully competitive female submission wrestling industry, Dolly of Hungary is a massive upgrade.
Her gorgeous feminine muscles indicates that she works out at the gym.
According to our research, at the intermediate level, Dolly is often victorious and a force to be reckoned with.
Did we also say that she is very good at MMA?
Years ago, many of the female submission wrestlers were very talented but did not work out at the gym regularly and did not heavily train in MMA. Today, that approach will simply get you defeated by the new and improved.
We have always been impressed with the legendary Venom of England. She was very victorious during the 2014 era and surrounding years.
Here is what Fem Competitor Magazine had to say about Venom during that time period, “Venom is taking her place among the elite in women’s competitive submission wrestling. When watching a star submission wrestler like Venom compete; she epitomizes how the game has significantly improved.”
Very good recommendation.
So how will Venom fare in today’s female submission mat challenges?
We’re about to find out.
Get your popcorn ready.
Let’s get ready to rumble.
DOLLY VS VENOM
The two women ready themselves in the ring.
We love Venom’s bright colored top and shorts, laced with electric pink. Hopefully her wrestling will be electric as well.
They begin with upper torso bear hug like struggle. No surprise, muscular Dolly wins that one. She takes the shapely Venom down to the mats and is instantly on top of her. The strong Hungarian brunette keeps the pressure on. She doesn’t just use her brawn but her smarts as well. She traps Venom in a painful wrist lock. Tightens the hold and Venom taps out.
1-0 for Dolly (1:14).
As they engage again, Venom immediately takes control, capturing Dolly in a floor to sitting body scissors as she grabs her wrists. Venom is now in complete control. With that wrist control she rolls Dolly over and now is on top.
That was surprisingly easy.
Dolly counters by locking her arms together and blocking her.
Venom responds by rolling Dolly into a side body scissors.
Dolly is struggling.
Venom now adeptly slides Dolly into a Triangle Choke.
We are a little surprised at how the curvy British beauty is woman handling this strong muscle girl.
Venom now slides Dolly into a side head scissor, squeezing the tanned brunette with her thick strong thighs and adds an arm bar to Dolly’s right arm for good measure. Dolly painfully taps out.
1-1 (3:06).
INFERNO
Match review excerpt from March 25, 2023,
We’re always a little nervous when we attempt to write in depth match reviews on pretty girls with even prettier personalities.
England’s Inferno is an industry legend.
She’s very pretty.
With an even prettier personality.
Vox is very pretty with a very pretty personality as well.
So what’s the problem?
We’re afraid they are going to talk too much during the match.
Giggle too.
Maybe even talk to the audience.
Please sing along.
Oh, if they could talk to the audience, walk with the audience, laugh with the audience, sing with the audience, have fish and chips with the audience, stroll over to Baker Street with the audience, sing To Sir With Love (wearing makeup and dressing like Lulu mandatory) with the audience, and slap hands with the audience (now pause), oh what a terrible match that would be.
Oh well. We will take a chance.
As far as the wrestling goes, Inferno is at the intermediate level and Vox is at the early intermediate level. Vox lost to Nikki in a match where they were submitting each other one minute after another. It was like watching an NFL football game where each team scored every time they got the ball and the final score was 73-72.
Both defensive coordinators were fired after the game.
Having said that, Vox did defeat Cheetah.
Still, if Inferno takes this match seriously, she should win pretty handily.
Now, that truly would be pretty.
VOX VS INFERNO
Both women come down the two level stairs. Inferno first, is all smiles. Then Vox comes down next, blowing kisses to the audience.
Oh, in the song, we forgot that one (scribbling down for next time, blow kisses to the audience).
Time for the match.
Since both women appear to be at the intermediate level, we’ll try not to demand too much here in terms of technique. Plus, we have to remember, these gorgeous girls are dressed sexy for a reason.
The audience loves sexy wrestling as a priority.
Got the memo.
As they begin with hand fighting, in the standing position, Vox gives up her back and it is an ideal opportunity for the legendary Inferno to take advantage of the situation.
She does, kind of.
Inferno pulls Vox backwards, slides her into a rear naked choke and side body scissors, then loses the hold.
Vox now asserts herself and bends ivory Inferno into a strong folding pin with her body weighing down for good measure and loses the hold.
Now, don’t look at us like that. We didn’t say anything.
Vox gains the advantage and traps Inferno in a rear naked choke and loses the hold.
Inferno counters by moving forward and clasping Vox in a strong Guillotine choke and?
Go ahead. You say it.
And loses the hold.
The two beautiful athletes struggle from their knees as Inferno gives up her back and Vox immediately traps her in a rear naked choke as Inferno is bent over.
Inferno forces Vox to hang on as she squirms and rolls around but, up to this point, Vox is not letting go of that hold. She appears to have a really tight grasp upon it. Now they are on their sides as Inferno is using her arms to try and pry Vox’s choke apart. She does.
Vox loses the hold.
Inferno falls on top of the beautifully tanned Vox and applies a reverse headlock. With her arm wrapped backwards behind Vox’s neck, you would think the Bulgarian star could easily break the hold but Inferno continues to keep her under lock.
They struggle and fall to the floor. Inferno maintains the reverse headlock and tries to add a grapevine for good measure.
Vox struggles to get to her knees and Inferno, now showing her years of experience applies a floor to kneeling body scissors as well, squeezes and Vox finally taps out.
Well done Inferno.
Inferno leads 1-0 (5:32).
