Newer Female Grapplers, The Importance Of Becoming Your Best, Look To British Legend Justice For Inspiration

May 29, 2024,

Can we agree upon this?

Once you make a decision to compete in a sport, try and perform at your highest level.

Agree?

Most people would.

So why aren’t most athletes or sports participants not performing at the highest level?

A lot of it has to do with the mindset of being willing to make sacrifices and increasing maximum effort.

The informative team at psychologytoday.com add, “The best way to excel during a sports competition is to focus on the play at hand as much as possible. During a competition, athletes should focus only on what they can change.”

In our fully competitive female submission wrestling industry, we have some stellar examples of athletes performing at the highest level but trying to imitate them may be very hard to do.

Still, let’s walk over to the bookstore and view a mindset that help us look at sports and life at a higher level.

Good to know.

We sense this book can help with your wrestling.

Here, focusing on an elite female submission wrestler might be intimidating. What we are going to do instead is look at some excerpts from England’s Justice, who loses to the elite, but is a very good wrestler.

When you read about two of her matches, try and focus on her tactics and what she is doing at a higher level.

If you are a newer female grappler, this might be helpful to you.

Enjoy.

JUSTICE (right) VS GINA

Editorial use, TC Wrestling screenshot Fair use

The two gorgeous girls begin on their knees and begin to hand fight, then literally wrist grab.

Literally.

Now that Gina has a hold on Justice’s wrists, she falls backwards and applies the floor to sitting body scissor hold. Virtually always a mistake and the tactics of a wrestler not confident to fight it out up top and secure the more lethal headlock hold. This tends to be the easy way out. Why fight from the bottom if you are not forced to?

No wonder, in our limited research, Gina has lost all three matches.

As the two girls struggle, now with Justice up top, Gina does not secure the hold (most don’t) and now Justice presses the advantage from the top as Gina uses her left leg to try and fence the British legend off. Justice is patient, moves laterally with Gina and finally gains a full mount as she sits on top of the pretty dark haired brunette.

Gina hand fights and struggles underneath.

Then Justice wins the wrist fight, tightens her grip and rolls Gina into a side body scissor and squeezes.

Gina manages to escape but Justice is still on top and reverts back to a full mount.

They struggle more as Gina gives up her back. From the top, Justice is trying to apply a submission choke but Gina survives. Justice then rolls her into another side body scissor, and to her credit, Gina fights that off too. Justice comes back to sitting on top of Gina.

They struggle more.

Gina is not giving in and given Justice’s superior position, she should be making Gina give, but she can’t seem to close. Very revealing. She certainly has had her chances, from the top, to close. Justice is patient and persistent. She continues to apply pressure from the top as Gina squirms below. The British star firmly places her left forearm across Gina’s throat but the quiet girl refuses to submit.

Justice is determined.

She now captures Gina from behind and slices her into a side scissor and applies the brutal rear naked choke, possibly a hold Justice has been angling for all along. Gina continues to squirm, refusing to give up and Justice refuses to let go. This war of attrition continues for a while but Gina appears to be finally tiring and as Justice squeezes harder, Gina finally taps out.

1-0 for Justice (7:48).

Time to engage.

A mild surprise and improvement, in our opinion, now Gina immediately tries to apply a leg and ankle lock as both she and Justice are in the elongated positions. Justice in return applies an ankle lock of her own.

Both women squirm in pain.

Can a submission come out of this?

No, as they both break their holds, come back to the center and start again.

They begin on their knees as Gina tries a failed floor to sitting body scissor and Justice, as all female wrestlers should, goes for the head and neck area and takes Gina down. She lands in a cross body pin position over the newer girl. Gina uses her left arm to push Justice’s head backwards into a scissor.

At first she fails.

Second time, she achieves it.

She has Justice in a scissor and now Gina is in the top sitting position as she tries to squeeze Justice out. For a second, the legendary wrestler appears ready to tap out but at the last second breaks the hold. Gina tries to push Justice’s head back downward into another scissor but Justice escapes that too.

Now the beautiful veteran goes on the offensive and as Gina lies flat on her back, Justice moves up to the head and neck area, secures Gina’s left arm and traps it in a brutal arm bar. The sweet brunette is in trouble. She kicks her gorgeous legs to escape.

But can’t.

She taps out.

2-0 for Justice (11:35).

JUSTICE VS WILLOW

The two beautiful athletes are standing, shake hands and then go down to their knees.

As they begin hand fighting, Justice is a little more passive so Willow takes her down with a headlock.

Appreciate that.

Justice is now flat on her back and uses her arms to fence Willow off, who is sitting in Justice’s chest area, deciding what to do. Instead of using her larger body to go for a smother, Willow reverts the position into a floor to sitting body scissor. We’re not crazy about that move as Justice drives her elbows into Willow’s knees. While Justice is not Mystique, we would be surprised, given her experience, that she would submit to that escapable hold so easily.

Willow continues to apply the floor to sitting scissor.

Bent over, Justice now gets to her knees.

Willow keeps the scissor and rolls Justice over against the wall.

On top of Justice, Willow begins a pin count but cannot sustain it. She rolls Justice back into a floor to sitting scissor, only she captures Justice by the head and neck area.

Justice is struggling but not in serious trouble.

She breaks the hold.

The experienced wrestler now falls on top of Willow. That is always the risk of the floor to sitting scissor. If your opponent breaks the hold, gravity will take her down on you in the top position.

Justice is now on top.

She is pushing down on Willow’s neck, scissors her right arm but Willow is refusing to give. Justice lets go of the hold. Willow responds by trying yet another floor to sitting body scissor.

Both girls are showing their inexperience and lack of closing skills.

Justice remains on top, driving her elbow into Willow’s throat while Willow scissors her right leg, preventing a full smother. Justice finally makes the right move and pulls Willow backwards into a rear naked choke and semi-body scissor. She squeezes tight. Willow struggles but she is in trouble. With no escape, the statuesque beauty taps out.

1-0 for Justice (5:46).

They go back to their knees.

The two beauties begin with hand fighting. Once again, Willow is the aggressor but this time with better technique and a purpose. She quickly takes Justice down with a right arm bar and brutal waist scissor combination. Much better. In pain, Justice quickly taps out.

1-1 (6:25).

Time to begin again.

Justice is the more aggressive one as she head hunts. Both are reaching at one another with no hold firmly set. Willow is focused on a reverse head scissor, misses a couple of times and finally gets it. She traps Justice in a head scissor while Justice is on top with her head facing south to Willow’s feet.

She is indeed caught in a head scissor trap.

Can she get out of it?

She does.

Then Justice goes on offense, capturing Willow from behind. They struggle around until Justice acquires the position she wants and applies a tight choke. Willow taps out.

2-1 for Justice (8:16).

SUMMARY

We purposely used a very good wrestler like Justice as an example for you to follow.

As far as the elite British female submission wrestlers like Mystique, the legendary Sable or the relentless Sativa, it is possible most will never achieve that level of grappling.

We’re not even suggesting that you do that.

To be the best, you don’t have to beat the best.

Just sincerely give your best.

Every time. And you know what?

You just might be surprised how great you will become.
