New Homes In The Dynamic New Oakland

July 30, 2020,

Despite what some think, the San Francisco Bay Area is still building and selling homes.

Oakland is leading the charge.

Oakland is the largest city and the county seat of Alameda County, California.

A major West Coast port city, Oakland is the largest city in the East Bay region of the San Francisco Bay Area, the third largest city overall in the San Francisco Bay Area, the eighth most populated city in California, and the 45th most populated city in the United States.

With a population of 433,031 as of 2019, it serves as a trade center for the San Francisco Bay Area; its Port of Oakland is the busiest port in the San Francisco Bay, the entirety of Northern California, and the fifth busiest in the United States of America.

Oakland's territory covers what was once a mosaic of California coastal terrace prairie, oak woodland, and north coastal scrub.

Then there are the hills.

The Oakland Hills neighborhoods comprise the highest elevations within the city's land area.

The American Planning Association of Northern California norcalapa.org enlightens, “The North Hills neighborhood is worth a visit, if for no other reason than to check out the architectural kaleidoscope that resulted as more than 2,000 owners rebuilt custom homes in the span of 10 years. Love it or hate it, there’s nothing else quite like it.

The hills also contain some of Oakland’s most popular attractions. At the south end of the hills is the Oakland Zoo, ranked among the top visitor destinations in the Bay Area. Other hill area landmarks include the Mormon Temple, Chabot Observatory, the Woodminster Amphitheater, the historic Dunsmuir House and Gardens, and Joaquin Miller Park.”

Following the 1906 San Francisco earthquake, many San Francisco citizens moved to Oakland, enlarging the city's population, increasing its housing stock, and improving its infrastructure. It continued to grow in the 20th century with its busy port, shipyards, and a thriving automobile manufacturing industry.

People are still moving there in droves.

Station House South in West Oakland just sold out, but it was certainly a charmer.

It all sounds so exciting.

The city of Oakland itself is undergoing quite a transformation.

One thing that you notice from an aerial view is how green the city has become.

The city of Oakland would love for you to visit.

At oaklandca.gov they smile, “Oakland has implemented a range of policies and programs that have reduced the City’s climate emissions more than 23 percent since 2005. In 2018, the City Council adopted a Climate Emergency and Just Transition Resolution stating that the City’s approach to the climate crisis must be rooted in justice: written with deep involvement of the communities most impacted by racial disparities and most at risk from the impacts of the climate crisis.

“The climate crisis is a generational battle for the future or our city and the world. It's one that threatens our economy, our health, and our city's future, with people of color being hit first and worst,” Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf said. “The Equitable Climate Action Plan is Oakland's strategy to create a future built on justice, equal opportunity, and environmental protection. Our city's commitment to social justice guided the development of the plan, and will guide its implementation over the next decade.”

“The Equitable Climate Action Plan is one of the most ambitious and robust climate action plans in the state – maybe even the country – and we should be proud,” said Oakland City Councilmember Dan Kalb, who chairs the Public Works Committee and is also Chair of East Bay Community Energy. “A plan is only as good as its execution. If we as a city and a community are serious about reducing fossil fuel emissions, we must now dedicate the necessary resources to implement the actions, prioritizing the needs of the most impacted communities.”

Sounds very ambitious and community beneficial.

Oakland is up and coming.

At visitoakland.com they smile, “Just 12 minutes from San Francisco, Oakland offers a cutting edge art and music scene, hip international dining experience, world-class sports teams and more.  For tour operators, wholesalers and travel professionals, Oakland is the solution to planning an idealistic Northern California experience.

And we can help! We’re proud and passionate about Oakland and we love showing it off.  Give our team a few minutes to share our Oakland insight and soon, you too will be singing the city’s praises.  Whether you need a rate quote from a hotel, help building an itinerary or planning tools, we’re here to assist with your needs.”

Sounds fun.

There are still new homes being built in the San Francisco Bay Area.

If you are in the market, you can start by looking at the new Oakland.
