Meeting Your Great Love? Upgrade Yourself First

A very wise older person in our circle once expressed that true love happens when you are very young and not fully formed professionally. After that, marrying is about other factors but true love is not one of them.

We gleaned that he was speaking of the teenage years. One person in our circle could verify that was true. Probably that is why people used to marry very young and spend the rest of their lives monogamous.

Was theirs love at first sight?

In the modern world, what are your chances of finding the love of your life?

Part of the challenge of meeting the love of our life is timing.

What if you meet someone that you have fallen madly in love with and they appear to have strong feelings for you.

Sounds like you have a chance, true?

The challenge is that you are 14 and she is 22. You see what we mean? Now if you were the same person but 23 and she is 22, now you have a chance.

In the movies, timing is certainly a factor but we feel an even larger component is how qualified you will be when the two of you meet. Especially in real life.

Extreme as that example may be, there are elements of it that do make sense, even if you take the money factor out.

The point we are trying to make is that you increase the chances of the love of your life being mutually attracted to you if you present yourself as the best package that you can be.

Time to break it down especially if you are 21 years of age or older.

How do you look physically? Flat stomach or a paunchy one? Body type. Tightly muscled and fit or a soft and flabby one? How about your hair? Your diet? Yes that is a factor.

In today’s world if you meet someone who makes a great effort to eat healthy and you are chugging down burgers, fries, pizza, ice cream and soda most of the time, it will be a turn off.

We mentioned money previously, a vulgar subject, but are you upgrading your education and resume to place you in a position to make more money? That will be a factor in the other person’s eyes, especially if it is a woman.

Let’s look at your professional occupation.

You might make the same amount of money being a Sanitation Engineer (garbage collector) as you do as an Assistant to a Congress Woman or a Manager in Human Resources. Who do you feel she is more likely to be attracted to?

The next one is a tough one.

Your friends and associates. Birds of a feather do flock together.

If the love of your life is a professional person and the two of you met at the gym and connected, you are off to a very good start.

Now we go through the above. Your hair looks good. You are making good money. You shop at Sprouts or other natural foods and health oriented stores. Stomach is lean and mean.

Things are looking up.

Then you invite him or her to a party with your circle of friends and your associates are smoking weed, drinking beer, talking angry politics or religion, great bar sex experiences and most likely scarfing down junk food.

How do you think that will go over with your love bird?

Then there is your personality.

Simply stated, as we age, many have found it is good to keep taking personal inventory, engage in self-reflection, take responsibility for mistakes or short comings and continue to improve.

Reflecting on the analysis of our wise old friend, yes, when we are teenagers and young and beautiful, in many ways we are a blank canvass. At that time when we meet our love, there are so many possibilities to grow and blend together. Too, you don’t have the baggage that failure and low achievement brings that often happens to us as we age. The key there is what you do after you have failed.

It is interesting to attend a ten year high school reunion and see how the person you once loved as a teenager is clearly on a pathway of growth and acceleration or someone that you still have feelings for but due to their lack of growth and achievement, you don’t find them as attractive as you once did.

With the proliferation of dating apps, some people think that they can paint a rosy and false picture of who they are and fool the other person into meeting them. Then when they meet, they feel terribly let down and deceived.

Faking it is not making it.

Please remember, according to the above survey, the chances of meeting the love of your life in our modern world is very slim. If you are very fortunate to have that meeting, what percentage of being the epitome of who you can be at this stage of your life are you at?

Twenty five percent? Not good.

Fifty percent? Not great.

How about 75 percent?

Now you’re getting somewhere.

No matter your age, keep working on self-improvement. Physically, spiritually, financially and professionally.

Swing the odds in your favor. Windows of opportunity in life open up very infrequently. When they do, you have to make the most of it. As you can see, this process is entirely up to us as an individual. Make the most of it.

Then when you meet the love of your life, you actually might qualify to meet their expectations.

Timing and preparation is everything.
