Poland’s MMA Super Star Karolina Kowalkiewicz Wishes Big

June 29, 2021,

Two losses on the resume board after a long unblemished record are hard not to take notice of. Not only for you but your opponents as well.

When you observe the internal makeup and confidence of the top MMA fighter Karolina Kowalkiewicz you get the impression it’s no problem at all and nothing to be worried about.

Were certainly convinced.

She’s ready to roll again and again.

As of this June 29, 2021 writing, she boasts a record of 18-6.

Karolina Kowalkiewicz is a Polish mixed martial artist. She currently fights for the Ultimate Fighting Championship. She is the former KSW Women's Flyweight Champion. She is ranked as the #4 strawweight in the official UFC rankings.

Ms. Kowalkiewicz began her mixed martial arts career at the age of sixteen when she began training in Krav Maga. She later trained in Muay Thai and decided to make it a career. She fought two amateur fights before turning pro.

Understandably she is all consumed with her MMA career but still loves teaching Krav Maga.

Our European star made her professional debut in her native Poland in May 2012.

Over the next three-and-a-half years she amassed an undefeated record of 7 wins against no losses. Very impressive.

She fought primarily for the Poland-based KSW promotion where she was the Flyweight champion and Karolina also made her U.S. debut for Invicta FC in November 2014.

In late October of 2015, it was announced that Kowalkiewicz had signed with the UFC.

She faced Randa Markos on December 19, 2015 at UFC on and she was successful in her debut, winning the fight by unanimous decision.

Karolina next faced Heather Jo Clark on May 8, 2016 at UFC Fight Night 87 in Rotterdam, Netherlands. She won the fight via unanimous decision.

Her star was rising. The next fight would be a big one.

She would face Rose Namajunas who was a rising star herself and would later defeat the reigning champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk.

Karolina defeated Rose Namajunas by split decision on July 30, 2016 at UFC 201 to earn the next title shot at current champion, Joanna Jędrzejczyk.

Like Rose would later do, could Karolina knock off the champion?

We are holding our breath in anticipation.

Karolina fought for the Strawweight title and lost to Joanna Jędrzejczyk by unanimous decision on November 12, 2016 at UFC 205 but she is still determined.

She still believes in herself and apparently so does ESPN. On March 5, 2018 they reported, “Kowalkiewicz snapped the first losing skid of her career by absolutely dominating Jodie Esquibel -- and she got to do so in her native Poland. She's come up short against Joanna Jedrzejczyk and Claudia Gadelha, but it seems likely she'll earn future rematches with them.”

Okay, it was just a glitch. A bump in the road. A blip on the screen.

Hopefully. She still has to prove that she is headed in the right direction.

She will get her chance.

In January of 2018 the respected industry site mmajunkie.com announced, “Felice Herrig has been asking for an opponent in the top 10, and she’s finally got it.

Herrig (13-6 MMA, 5-1 UFC) has been booked to face Karolina Kowalkiewicz (11-2 MMA, 4-2 UFC) at UFC 223, which takes place April 7 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y., and airs on pay-per-view following prelims on FS1 and UFC Fight Pass.”

Okay. Absolutely looking forward to that. Not only is Karolina a great fighter, if you listen and watch her interviews, she is got one enjoyable personality.

She loves mountain climbing and action sports. No surprise there.

Karolina also enjoys being a Krav Maga Instructor to both adults and children.

Initially she never wanted to be a professional fighter but one of her coaches asked her if she would give it a try. We are so glad that occurred.

In her early years there wasn’t much Women’s MMA available in Poland and as we know in the competitive female submission wrestling industry, few of our Fem Competitors emanate from Poland. Thus Joanna turned to participating in Muay Thai and absolutely loved it.

As far as her job, she loves this life better than working in an office 9-5 and inputting data which would kill her.

Boy can we say ditto to that.

If she were a heroine with super powers she would love to control the wind to be able to put fires and be able to fly.

If she had three wishes she would want her friends and relatives to be healthy, and she would like to remain healthy. For those who are sick, she would like for them to get better.

Her second wish is for all of her friends and relatives to be rich and fulfill their dreams.

We would love for Karolina to consider us as a friend.

Her third wish is private and she plans to keep it that way for she is afraid if she expresses what it is, it may never happen.

Could that wish be to rise to be the current champion of the world? We feel that could happen.

There is so much in Karolina to love. We want to visit her hometown and experience the village that helped shape her.

Łódź is the third-largest city in Poland and a former industrial center.

Located in the central part of the country, it has a population of 693,797 (2017).

After Poland regained its independence in 1918, Łódź grew to be one of the largest Polish cities and one of the most multicultural and industrial centers in Europe.

The city is also internationally known for its National Film School, a cradle for the most renowned Polish actors and directors, including Andrzej Wajda and Roman Polanski, and in 2017 was inducted into the UNESCO Creative Cities network and named UNESCO City of Film.

The world travelers at Lonely Planet loves Karolina’s village as well. They smile, “In recent years, millions of euros have been poured into the city in an effort to spur one of the country's – and continent's – biggest renovation efforts. The investments have led to the rejuvenation of ul Piotrkowska, the main pedestrian thoroughfare, and to the creation of malls and business centers.

Beyond textiles, Łódź's other famous industry is movie-making. The city has long been the center of the Polish film industry, and directorial giants like Andrzej Wajda, Roman Polański and Krzysztof Kieślowski honed their talents here. It's not for nothing that it's nicknamed 'Holly-woodge'.”

Makes perfect sense. They certainly created a global star in Karolina.

Now about her love for mountain climbing, Poland is a hot bed of excitement for treks up in the air.

The Tatra Mountains, part of the Carpathian mountain chain in Eastern Europe, create a natural border between Slovakia and Poland. Both Slovak and Polish sides are protected as national parkland and are popular destinations for winter and summer sports. The Tatras are home to wildlife including the Tatra chamois, marmot, lynx and bears.

We’re sold on the mountains. Now we are ready to hike.

At theculturetrip.com they guide, “Mark the town of Zakopane on the map. Hailed as the winter capital of Poland, this small city between the valleys of the Tatras is the base point for most all of the best hikes in the region.

Perhaps the single best thing about the Tatra Mountains is just how accessible they are. Compared to the more technical summits and treks of Slovakia’s Carpathians just over the border, this stretch of peaks has plenty for every type of walker.”

We loved how they said walker and not runner or expert hiker.

Karolina? We would love to hike with you.

There is more good news. The respected site poland.travel adds a very important piece of tourist information. “Poland has been named one of the best value destinations in the world to visit in 2018 in Lonely Planet’s Best in Travel, the highly anticipated announcement of the world’s hottest destinations that should feature on every traveler’s wish list for the year ahead. Each year Lonely Planet highlights the top ten countries, cities, regions and best value destinations that experts recommend travelers experience in 2018. Previously, Poland was named by Lonely Planet as a “Top 10 Country” to visit in 2016.”

Were impressed with Karolina’s home and even more so with Karolina.

Karolina didn’t want to publicly express her third wish for fear it might not come true.

Could it be this?

The team at mmafighting.com reports On June 22, 2021, “Promotion officials announced on Tuesday that a strawweight matchup between Kowalkiewicz and Jessica Penne will take place at UFC 265. The event takes place Aug. 7 at a location and venue yet to be announced.”

Sounds incredibly exciting.

We will publicly express our wish about Karolina.

Based upon what we’ve read and seen, we wish that Karolina has a long brilliant career with many successful title fights in between and we’re happy to say that out loud.
