How Would You Make The World More Wonderful?

July 30, 2021,

It is a wonderful world, right?

The legendary American sax player Louis Armstrong said so. He is a legend. Who are we to question him?

And the way he so beautifully sang that tune, we believe him.

When we look around, we are a little confused. Was he talking about the planet earth?

Louis Daniel Armstrong (August 4, 1901 – July 6, 1971), nicknamed "Pops", was an American trumpeter and vocalist who is among the most influential figures in jazz. His career spanned five decades and different eras in the history of jazz.

Mr. Armstrong was born and raised in New Orleans.

Coming to prominence in the 1920s as an inventive trumpet and cornet player, Mr. Armstrong was a foundational influence in jazz, shifting the focus of the music from collective improvisation to solo performance.

He was brilliant. So was his song, here in part.

I see trees of green
Red roses too
I see them bloom
For me and you
And I think to myself
What a wonderful world

The colors of the rainbow
So pretty in the sky
Are also on the faces
Of people going by
I see friends shaking hands
Saying, "How do you do?"
They're really saying
"I love you"

Wow. They are really saying I love you.

Oh, so that’s what those bus load of teenagers were saying to us with their middle finger in the air as they drove by.

Glad that was cleared up.

We can certainly think of a few things that would make the world “more wonderful”.

For example, we have written about a lot of gorgeous actresses, and if we are doing our job well, we try and make you feel like we’ve fallen in love with them.

Course we’re all professionals here so that is just for show.

Now if we could go away for the weekend with one of them, at a secluded cabin up in the spiritual woods where there are no serial killers lurking in the darkness, or teenagers wearing rabbit, bear and pig masks with axes and hammers behind their backs or people who don’t know that they’re already dead, we would love to spend quality private time with them.

If we could, just the two of us, much of the time in the Jacuzzi?

Afterwards we would go inside and have a delicious dinner with wine and she would ask if we could snuggle by the fireplace. Then we would, and possibly do more.

That would make for an even “more” wonderful world.

Here is another.

A friend in our circle we will call Allen wishes that he could re-live his high school years all over again. Not now. Heavens no. Back in his time period, decades ago when, in his mind, the girls we’re absolutely gorgeous girl next door types, there was the pageantry of high school football, cool dance clubs and classy restaurants to go on dates to.

His main focus would be his football life.

This time he would be with an adult who bet the house on him and worked with him, trained him and even brought in specialists to work with him. Then on warm Friday afternoons in the San Francisco suburbs he would be leaping over tacklers, running for touchdowns while the gorgeous babes in the stands cheered his name.

Afterwards, he would slowly walk off the field among the cheerleaders and his fellow victorious warriors to the school’s fight song.

During the week he would walk down the hallways with his beautiful girl friend, which changes each year.

If he could have that high school experience and not the completely awful one that he had where he gave up the winning touchdown in the year’s biggest game, had no girlfriends, never went out on a date, didn’t go to the prom and was an all-around punk, that would really be something.

You’re only young once.

You’re only in high school once.

If Allen could go back in time and have that great high school experience described above?

That would make for an even “more” wonderful world.

Sounds sweet.

So does sugar. Sugar is very sweet. Too bad it is absolutely terrible for us.

In an alternate universe, we would make sugar really good for you. It would be like securing all of the vitamins and nutrients that you get from red beet juice (yuck), broccoli (double yuck) and dark green spinach (triple yuck).

Sugar would help you build strong muscles, make your hair grow on your chest, boost your sex drive and turn you teeth pearly white.

In combination with cheeseburgers, great spicy tacos, pizza and garlic steak sandwiches, washed down with sugary sodas (especially Coke, Dr. Pepper and foamy Root Beer), followed by a bowl of sweet chocolate chip ice cream, it would increase your memory capabilities by 300 percent.

Don’t forget those sugary cereals that we loved so much as a kid. Trix, with purple, pink, magenta and strawberry red puffs would be so healthy. Oh and those Sugar Pops. Love drinking the sugary milk after. We can just taste that Captain Crunch right now. And Fruit Loops? Of course Lucky Charms. Please don’t get us started.

Now see, if we could make sugar that healthy?

That would make for an even “more” wonderful world.

Do you, like Mr. Armstrong, feel that the world is already a wonderful place? That it is already wonderful enough?

Our question to you would be, when you will you be visiting planet earth again?

Yes, okay, fine. The world is a wonderful place.

We do have many things to be thankful for, like beautiful actresses, sports cars, bikini lined swimming pools, healthy delicious natural foods, family, friends and pets.

Let’s keep going.

College and NFL football in the fall, soul stirring singers, mesmerizing binge watching television, fine dining or fun lunches at our favorites restaurants and comedy clubs.

We’re staying with the fun and shallow stuff because yes, cures for illnesses, correcting global warming, social harmony, non-corrupt governments and Any Griffith like policepersons would be great but feel a little too serious for our mood.

There is much to love about the world we live in.

Still, if we magically could, we would make it an even “more” wonderful world.
