Serena Williams Jewelry Enters Exclusive Partnership with Zales

August 26, 2021,

A wonderful doubles partnership has been formed, just in time for the 2021 US Tennis Open.

The intriguing aspect to this global marriage is that the best photos won’t be taken on the tennis court. There promises to be some great shots.

As reported by People Magazine (people.com) on August 24, 2021, “On Monday, the tennis champion and entrepreneur announced that her Serena Williams Jewelry line will now be sold exclusively at Zales — and the brands are debuting a collection of new designs and reimagined fan favorites to kick off the partnership.”

The best doubles team will continue to get better. An elegant pairing.

At the informative jewelry industry source nationaljeweler.com they add, “From rings and necklaces to earrings and bracelets, the collection includes more than 60 designs, available in 10-karat gold and sterling silver accented with diamonds.”

Sounds like incredible team work. They both boast incredible resumes.

Serena has won 23 Grand Slam singles titles, the most by any player in the Open Era, and the second-most of all time behind Margaret Court (24).

The Women's Tennis Association (WTA) ranked her singles world No. 1 on eight separate occasions between 2002 and 2017. On her sixth occasion, she held the ranking for 186 consecutive weeks, tying the record set by Steffi Graf. In total, she has been WTA No. 1 for 319 weeks, which ranks third in the Open Era behind Graf and Martina Navratilova.

Serena is widely regarded to be one of the greatest female tennis players of all time.

Her unbelievable accomplishments support that assessment.

She holds the most Grand Slam titles in singles, doubles, and mixed doubles combined among active players. Her 39 Grand Slam titles put her joint-third on the all-time list and second in the Open Era: 23 in singles, 14 in women's doubles, and two in mixed doubles.

She is the most recent female player to have held all four Grand Slam singles titles simultaneously (2002–03 and 2014–15) and the third player to achieve this twice, after Rod Laver and Graf. She is also the most recent player to have won a Grand Slam title on each surface (hard, clay and grass) in one calendar year (2015). She is also, together with her older sister Venus, the most recent player to have held all four Grand Slam women's doubles titles simultaneously (2009–10).

That is enough to make anyone take a deep breath.

Let’s pause while we catch ours.

Then there is her regal partner with common roots that began as well with a great sibling belief in one another.

Zales began operating in 1924 in Wichita Falls, Texas.

Borthers Morris (M. B.) Zale and William Zale along with Ben Lipshy opened the first Zales Jewelers store (now a division in the multi-division company).

As a marketing strategy, the Zale brothers instituted a credit plan whereby customers could pay "a penny down and a dollar a week," making jewelry and other merchandise affordable for the average working American. The success of this credit policy led to the company expanding to a total of 12 stores in Oklahoma and Texas by 1941. Zales Jewelers moved its headquarters from Wichita Falls to Dallas in 1946. In 1998, online shopping was opened at www.zales.com.

What a wonderful human success story.

In terms of their doubles partnership, it is their turn to serve.

The popular diamond store will become the sole retailer of Serena Williams Jewelry in the United States, which includes new designs as well as reimagined fan favorites to inspire today's modern consumer. "We are extremely excited to work with Serena Williams. She's truly an inspiration and an icon," says Jamie Singleton, President of Kay, Zales and Peoples. "Each design embodies her striking yet playful style, and we are thrilled to bring Serena's signature aesthetic to our customers, giving them another avenue to express themselves and connect with the energy that Serena emits."

Williams is known for playing with her style both on and off the court.
