UFC, Laura Sanko, First Female MMA Color Commentator

February 28, 2023,

While you were asleep others were not.

In the dynamic female MMA industry, women are making news every day.

Let’s see if you heard about this one.

Have you heard of Laura Sanko?

As reported by the team at mmajunkie.usatoday.com, “At UFC Fight Night 218 on Saturday night, Sanko will become the first female color commentator in the modern UFC era to call an official UFC event. It’s a big moment for Sanko and for women in the MMA industry.”

See what we mean?

History was made while you were sleeping.

This is ground breaking news so who is who is Laura Sanko?

As posted by www.the-sun.com, “Laura Sanko is a former UFC fighter-turned-ESPN commentator. In 2013, she made her professional MMA debut at Invicta FC 4. Sometime after, she retired from the Octagon in favor of becoming a reporter for ESPN.”

Good to know. We certainly wish her the best.

Now that you are awake, here is more female MMA news.

Another female MMA trailblazer has a book out that might interest you.

Knockout Hardcover – October 20, 2020

By Mia Kang (Author)

“Mia Kang is many things: a sought-after model, an immigrant, an eating disorder survivor, and a Muay Thai fighter. Her first book, Knockout, is the story of how she eschewed normative body standards and learned to use martial arts to redefine her sense of self-worth. In a charming, fierce, and intimate voice, Kang invites readers into her world. She once lived and died by her weight, but she is now defined by her confidence in being a woman who lives outside the mold of what we’re taught is “feminine.” After dealing with bullying, addiction, body dysmorphia, anxiety, depression, and even suicidal thoughts, Mia acknowledges that she is lucky to still be alive to tell readers what she’s learned: to not let anyone else dictate who you are supposed to be.”

Sounds intriguing.

Let’s keep going.

This was a huge fight.

As reported by bloodyelbow.com, “Former UFC strawweight champion Jessica Andrade suffered a somewhat embarrassing loss at UFC Vegas 69’s main event, but not for obvious reasons. Having gotten submitted by rising prospect Erin Blanchfield, ‘Bate Estaca’ explained that she had to deal with another issue in the match, which did not really involve martial arts.”

They add that in an interview with Ag Fight, Ms. Andrade revealed what led her to lose concentration, she could not focus on the fight because one of her breasts had slipped out in the middle Erin’s takedown attempt.

Here is what else is happening in global UFC wrestling.
