Female Grapplers, Build Your Biceps For Effective Arm Bar Submissions

March 15, 2023,

You have worked hard to get her in this position.

Maybe she is the more skilled wrestler.

Maybe.

Whatever the case, once you gain your advantage and initially have her trapped in a submission hold, you need to keep her there.

In what history will remember as a classic match, rising star Dolly of Hungary met an established elite star in Warrior Amazon of Germany and knew since she was an underdog, she had to throw the kitchen sink at Warrior, early on, with the hopes of gaining a submission.

It was amazing to watch.

Once you gain an advantage what can help you close the deal?

An effective arm bar.

Some call it an arm lock.

An arm lock in grappling is a single or double joint lock that hyperextends, hyperflexes or hyperrotates the elbow joint or shoulder joint.

An arm lock that hyper-extends the arm is known as an arm bar, and it includes the traditional arm bar, pressing their elbow into your thigh, and the triangle arm bar, like a triangle choke, but you press their elbow into your thigh.

An arm lock that hyper-rotates the arm is known as an arm coil, and includes the Americana, Kimura, and Omaplata.

In our video reviews, if applied correctly, they can really be painful.

In your training, which muscles should you focus on to strengthen your arm bars?

It all about the shoulder region. The tissues that surround the shoulder, which include the pecs, deltoids, and biceps are a great starting place.

Are you ready to watch a video? This is a great 20 minute workout video on biceps. It is from the team at Nourish, Move, Love.

Sounds like a three step class we would love to attend.

Let’s meet the team.
