Newer Female Grapplers, Explore Strength Training, Reap Strong Benefits

May 8, 2025,

You should take it personally.

And that is a good thing.

Indoor or outdoor. As a female grappler, are you ready to rejuvenate your strength with strength training?

The team at uchealth.org surmise, “Interested in building strong muscles, growing healthy bones and burning calories at the same time? Strength training — which includes lifting weights and doing weight-bearing exercises —could be just the activity you’re looking for.”

What is so great about it, is that it is personal. Designed for you. What part of your body needs to be upgraded?

Strength training, is exercise designed to improve physical strength.

It is often associated with the lifting of weights. It can also incorporate techniques such as bodyweight exercises like push-ups, pull-ups, and squats, isometrics and plyometrics.

Strength training can increase muscle, tendon, and ligament strength as well as bone density, metabolism, and the lactate threshold; improve joint and cardiac function and reduce the risk of injury in athletes.

Need inspiration? You have it. Think Olympics.

Olivia Reeves is an American weightlifter.

Drum roll.

She won the gold medal in the women's 71 kg event at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, France.

In 2023, she won the bronze medal in her event at the World Weightlifting Championships held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

In 2024, she won the gold medal in that event with a combined lift of 267 kg.

She became the first U.S. lifter in 66 years to hold both the world title and an Olympic gold in the same year. She won the gold medal in the women's 81 kg event at the 2023 Pan American Games held in Santiago, Chile.

The global news and information leader, CNN adds, “In topping the podium at Paris 2024, Reeves became the first US lifter since Tara Nott in 2000 to win Olympic gold, and the youngest American Olympic gold medalist in weightlifting since Berger in 1956.”

We are completely impressed.

You have inspiration. Let’s walk over to the bookstore for details that you can personalize.
