Like Dorothy, if we could click our heels and wish for anything, lovely though it may be, we wouldn’t wish to go back to Kansas (especially during tornado season).
At least not as our first wish.
After watching Nika wrestle, she is the new tornado that has blown into our industry with dynamic energy and is making global news.
If we clicked our heels, we would wish for more money and opportunities for Nika to wrestle.
She is that good.
She is that special.
Wrestlers like Nika do not often come along, so while she is here, we are going to try and capture her glory.
Nika is new to the submission wrestling industry but not to MMA. Her martial arts training is very evident. Her desire to win is crystal clear.
Today she will be facing a veteran in Lexi Max, who FCI would classify at the intermediate level with substantial experience. She has a long list of victories but struggles when she meets the elite.
This will be an important test for Nika as she has met newer girls, with great success, in her previous matches.
If this were in the NFL, it would be like watching the expansion team having a great run, against under 500 opponents and is now about to battle an 8-6 team with a long history. This is where you find out how good you actually are.
Given her strong MMA skills, we are going to give the pre-match nod to Nika but we expect this one to be close. We already know that Nika is for real, but in all fairness, this might be her toughest test to date.
It’s match time.
NIKA VS LEXI MAX

Lexi Max is introduced first and she indicates the room is warm.
Nika leaps into the picture (literally), and what strikes us is how she is taller and stronger looking than her opponents, like Lottie LaLay and here, Lexi Max.
Nika is a beautiful specimen with girl next door looks and just the right amount of muscle.
Time to begin.
After initial upper torso fighting, Nika falls to the floor to attempt a floor to sitting body scissors. Lexi easily breaks the hold and falls on top of Nika in cross body pin style. Always the risk with a floor to sitting scissor is, if you don’t secure the hold, your opponent can immediately fall on top of you. Depending upon the skill level, sometimes they never let you back up off of the floor until you are submitted, as Bianca of Italy so masterfully did with Hungary’s muscle girl, Dolly.
Nika is a strong girl and she manages to force her way on top of Lexi and temporarily gain control as they struggle. Lexi is very experienced and she manages to turn the tables and be back on top as well.
Lexi now lowers Nika’s head and forces her into a semi-Guillotine Choke, and secures Nika’s head. Now she applies the floor to sitting body scissor. The big difference between hers and Nika’s is that Lexi secured Nika’s head first and grasping her from behind the neck, tightens the grip and applies the scissor at the same time.
Nika is in trouble.
Lexi holds on, squeezes hard and Nika taps out. Well done by Lexi. Nice veteran move.
1-0 for Lexi (3:34).
While we wouldn’t describe ourselves as shocked, we would say that we are a little surprised.
Having said that, there is still a lot of time left.
The two strong women engage from the top trying to secure the head and shoulders.
Nika wins out.
She takes Lexi down to the mats and attempts to apply a side body scissor. Lexi wisely blocks the scissor with her right leg. The struggle continues. Nika tries to secure an arm lock on Lexi’s right arm.
Nika lets go of the hold and flattens Lexi out on her back as she sits atop her. The gorgeous athlete spins around and attempts a face sit as she maneuvers for a submission. Lexi fights through the hold and even breaks it. Her joy is brief as she falls into a side body scissor, Nika squeezes, Lexi groans and taps out.
Were knotted 1-1 (5:25)
As they engage, Nika quickly tries the floor to sitting scissor, with disastrous results. The veteran Lexi easily breaks the hold and immediately falls on top of her. The Irish star is now in control and begins to apply a chin lock as Nika uses her strong beautiful shapely legs to kick out.
Nika breaks the chin lock hold.
She clasps Lexi in another floor to sitting scissor and Lexi responds by driving her elbows into Nika’s thighs. She breaks the hold. Nika is determined to use her legs to control Lexi, tries again, Lexi breaks the hold again, and lands on top of Nika with a cross body pin.
Lexi then maneuvers to mount Nika in the elongated position and goes for a smother but Nika protects herself by locking Lexi’s right leg to prevent a full mount. Lexi is in control and forces Nika to give up her back as she tries to pull her into a behind the back body scissor. The veteran slowly maneuvers to capture a rear naked choke, squeezes hard and Nika taps out.
2-1 for Lexi (8:55).
The girls take a break.
If appears to be a hot steamy day in London. Their hair is wet. They are sweating. A small break is in order.
Once they begin, they approach one another cautiously and Nika immediately does the floor to body scissor thing instead of gaining control from the top. A veteran like Lexi immediately breaks the hold and encases Nika in a very tight headlock.
Nika recovers and rolls Lexi into a side body scissor, squeezes hard and Lexi taps out.
Nika was fortunate Lexi didn’t make that headlock stick.
2-2 and all tied up (10:25).
They begin from their knees.
Lexi leaps forward and surprises Nika with a headlock. She maneuvers herself over Nika, grasps the left arm bar and tries to place her legs across Nika’s throat for a combination hold but loses it.
Nika quickly seizes the upper position but she loses that. She then tries the floor to body scissor, loses that, and now Lexi is once again on top of Nika’s torso area. She sweeps her legs and tries to encase Nika in a Triangle Choke. Nika uses her strength to roll Lexi but the veteran retains the Triangle Choke as Nika is bent over from her knees.
The MMA trained star is persistent, almost captures the Irish maiden in a back breaker and manages to capture Lexi in a surprise body scissor. It was quick and brutal. Lexi immediately tapes out. Great wrestling from Nika. Previously it was Lexi in a position of strength to get a submission. This is in part why Nika is a rising star.
She van reverse your situation in a heartbeat.
3-2 (12:35).
They temporarily break.
By the look of their soaking wet hair and Lexi steadily fanning herself, it is a soaking wet hot day in London. You can literally feel it.
They begin again.
Nika attempts a behind the neck take down but misses. Lexi makes good on hers and has captured Nika in some form of a Guillotine Choke, with the larger girl bent over. Then it turns into some form of a bull riding headlock. They roll over revealing just how tight a hold Lexi has around Nika’s neck. The beautiful girl struggles to get away as Lexi adds a side body scissor. Nika appears to be in trouble but, give this newer wrestler credit, at times she is Houdini like in her escapes.
Can she do that here?
Lexi tightens the choke, Nika is visibly struggling. Then Lexi does something really strange and gives up that combination hold to ride Nika from the top.
Could that be a big mistake?
No. It is not.
From the top she applies a brutal rear naked choke, Nika screams and taps out. A veteran transition turns into a submission. Nice work from Lexi.
Notched up at 3-3 (15:20).
They rest and sweat. There is only six seconds left in the match and it is declared a draw.
This was a match that lived up to the hype.
There are no such things as moral victories in sports but both girls can take solace that they both did an exceptional job.
Against a respected veteran, Nika proved that she is for real.
