San Francisco Mat Classic, FCI Event, Olivia D’Angelo Vs New Girl Eden, Intense Journey

December 11, 2023,

We learn so much from others.

Each other.

If we choose to.

Ralph Waldo Emerson (May 25, 1803 – April 27, 1882), was an American essayist, lecturer, philosopher, abolitionist and poet who led the transcendentalist movement of the mid-19th century.

He was seen as a champion of individualism and critical thinking, as well as a prescient critic of the countervailing pressures of society and conformity. Friedrich Nietzsche considered him "the most gifted of the Americans", and Walt Whitman referred to him as his "master".

A famous expressed he shared, often quoted by others and maybe even by you, was, Life is a Journey, not a Destination.

How true that is.

Because, after all, we all have a final destination.

And through the pathway of life, some destinations that we hope and dreamed about can be very disappointing. Unfulfilling. Sad. Not what you expected.

Based upon that alone, it is important to enjoy the journey along the way. Stop and smell the flowers. Enjoy every moment. Live everyday as if it might be your last.

If you would like a few more cliché’s, watch the sequel to an original exceptional movie.

Here, today, we have the San Jose tough girl Olivia D’Angelo vs the sweet feminine girl next door in Eden.

We met Eden.

She truly was sweet and very young at heart.

So, in this match?

We know the destination ahead of time.

We know how this puppy is going to end.

When this match reaches its final destination, Olivia will be the clear winner.

That is not in doubt.

And yet, because of the journey, we were salivating to watch it.

Why?

Ironically because of sweet Eden.

We saw her wrestle journey woman Bryn Blayne and get thrashed. Having said that, we have also reviewed her matches between veteran girlie girl Samantha Grace and cheerful Dylan and she tied both of them. So Eden does have some skills. Today against Olivia?

She will need all of them.

Time to go ringside.

OLIVIA VS EDEN

The two gorgeous girls begin on their knees. They introduce themselves and smile sweetly. Then shake hands. How civilized.

Well, as the reality TV shows say, now were about to find out what happens when people stop being polite.

Olivia begins to reach for Eden’s hands as the sweet girl pulls them away. Eden then uses her right arm to leap at Olivia’s neck but comes forward a little too much and the super star captures the new girl in a floor to sitting body scissor and pulls her head downward into a crushing Guillotine Choke.

Feminine Eden begins to scream, “Ow, ow, ow!” Olivia shows her no mercy and continues to squeeze. Isamar and the rest of us scream for Eden to tap. Eden taps out. Wow, that was quick.

1-0 for Olivia (44 seconds).

Eden has the expression of shock on her face like being from the suburbs, daddy’s little princess, took the wrong exit off the freeway and now finds herself in a rough neighborhood where a tough girl wants to kick her butt.

And to think. All she did was ask for directions.

Here, our sweet Eden quickly realizes, this is not Samantha Grace or Dylan.

It’s more like Bryn Blyane with an attitude.

Time for round two.

Our associate reminds Eden that she can hit her hands on the mats to tap out. She looks a little disheveled.

No. Make that freshly mauled.

Our associate asks Eden if she needs a timeout. A break, as it were.

She says “yes”.

Good gracious. We’re only 44 seconds into the fight and this chick already needs a break.

Isamar walks over to Olivia and requests, “be nice to her”.

Easier said than done. Olivia seems to only know one speed, as Kait Snow, Dana Vixen and Samantha Grace found the very hard way.

Eden softly chimes in, “I, like, really hurt my neck already”.

Well, were about to find out how Olivia defines, “take it easy”.

Isamar makes sure that Olivia gets the point and takes out all chokes.

As they begin to hand fight up top, Olivia accidentally smacks Eden in the mouth. If this were a 1960s Batman episode the camera would showed in a burst caption, “ZAP!” “Smash” “Bop”.

Olivia takes Eden down into a brutal floor to sitting body scissor and pulls the gorgeous brunette’s head downwards. Eden is in great pain again. Isamar commands, “release the neck”.

With a very frustrated look on her face, Olivia releases the neck.

She keeps Eden in a floor to sitting body scissor and then transfers it to an arm bar, upper shoulder scissor. Eden struggles in between. She breaks the hold. Olivia comes up and begins to fight her from the top. She captures Eden in another lowering choke and Isamar states, “release the neck”.

Olivia is starting to get very annoyed.

She soon traps Eden’s left arm into a dangerous looking arm bar. Eden says it doesn’t hurt as Isamar urges her to tap out. Fortunately, Eden escapes the hold.

They engage once more, as Eden walks on her knees towards the champion, Olivia captures her again in a headlock and Isamar states, “release the neck”.

Olivia has had enough, sighs and sits in frustration. Our associate can sense that and temporarily stops the match.

Time to take a break, talk and regroup (4:10).

Olivia began to explain her aggressiveness.

She related how at other wrestling venues, specifically Academy, they have some very good wrestlers and if you don’t take advantage of your opportunities and let them off of the hook, they will turn the tables on you and submit you.

Okay, we get that.

But, having said that, be aggressive but don’t hurt her. As for Eden, this is a fight, so we can’t baby you either.

Fair enough?

Time to start again.

Sweet young Eden is tentative but extends her hand to Olivia and they shake on it.

At least Olivia didn’t bite it.

They circle one another without engaging. Soon Eden tries a right arm headlock but Olivia escapes it, latches on to Eden’s right arm, forces a brutal arm bar and Eden quickly taps out.

2-0 for Olivia.

She apologizes to Eden.

We reassure Olivia she doesn’t have to keep apologizing. This is a competitive wrestling match, not a bake sale.

Time to go again.

They begin with upper struggle and surprisingly, Eden gets the better of it and takes Olivia down to the mats and is aggressive on top of her. The challenge here is that Eden just doesn’t have closing skills. They missed that in her training and though she has a great advantage for a smother submission, she is letting Olivia hang around too long and Olivia eventually begins to mount an offense from the bottom position.

She uses her right arm to capture Eden in a headlock.

Then she uses both arms for a double lock.

Eden is groaning in pain and tries to use her forearm to mash Olivia’s face.

Eventually Eden breaks the headlock hold and moves back to the center.

They slowly engage. Eden moves forward and Olivia falls backward, using her legs and hands to capture Eden’s arm, as the beautiful shapely young girl lies on top of her. This struggle and stalemate lasts for some time. They have now struggled to a mutual elongated position, heads facing the opposite direction. They struggle some more and decide to break the hold.

Time to start again.

They are circling one another but not engaging.

Isamar admonishes, “Keep going”.

They continue to circle but have yet to engage.

Eden leaps for the headlock but misses. Olivia is very effective at using her legs and hands to capture Eden in another arm bar. Eden screams a profanity and sighs, “I didn’t know kicking and scratching was allowed”. Olivia goes, “What”?

We urge Eden to tap out.

She does.

Though there is at least 2 minutes to go, FCI decides to call the match.

Eden shows us her arm and yes, there is indeed a long deep red scratch. She was not exaggerating.

Our associates calms the situation down with a post interview of appreciation for both beautiful girls.

This is who Olivia is. She is aggressive and tenacious, in an honorable way.

Time has a way of placing things in perspective. This is another San Francisco classic as, not far in the future, unrelated to this match, but the changing and decline of the fully competitive female wrestling industry in the San Francisco Bay Area, both girls would never wrestle again.

We are so glad we captured them on film.

Time should always remember them.

As part of a once glorious San Francisco female wrestling journey.
